Fire Risk Assessments

What is a Fire Risk Assessment

A Fire Risk Assessment is a process involving the systematic evaluation of the factors that determine the hazard from fire, the likelihood that there will be a fire, and the consequences if one were to occur.

Who needs a Fire Risk Assessment

Fire Risk Assessments are a legal requirement for ALL UK businesses and organisations. If you employ five or more people it must be documented and available for inspection. .

What form does the report take

Once a qualified and highly trained AFC Assessor has completed your assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report, which details all findings.  But, most importantly, it will highlight the 'Significant Findings', making it really simple to understand. The report also provides you with step by step advice on what you need to do to comply with current legislation.

Q. How long does a Fire Risk Assessment take?

A. Typically a  Fire Risk Assessment  takes around 2 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the premises. The comprehensive report would normally take a further 4-5 hours to prepare.

Q. Do I have to be there when the  Fire Risk Assessment is carried out?

A. It would be very useful if you were present at the time, to provide information required by the Assessor that other members of staff may not be  able to provide.

Q. How much notice do I need to give for a  Fire Risk Assessment ?
